Tips
This is the classic open-pollinated spinach with very good flavor, dating back to the 1820's. Thick glossy leaves are dark green and lightly crinkled. They stand upright for easy picking, and the flavor is rich and sweet. Fresh chopped leaves also make attractive green fabric dye. Vigorous production that doesn’t bolt in the heat of summer.
Plant as early as ground can be worked, soil temperature 35 ℉. Seed 1/4"deep, 1" apart, thin to 3" apart and continue to thin as the plants grow.
sow seeds in the fall before ground freezes and cover with light mulch for an early spring, vitamin-rich crop
spinach's tap root provides body-nourishing minerals and micronutrients to the leaves
leaves are an excellent dye source
