Tips
This mint family member is a milder, sweeter cousin to oregano. Native to the Mediterranean, it excels in tomato-based dishes and Greek cuisine. Also treasured by herbalists for centuries for easing anxiety and insomnia. Makes good companion plant, particularly among the squash and cucumbers. Like all mint family members, sweet marjoram is a good companion plant.
Seed indoors 6 weeks before putting out in the garden in May or direct seed in spring when soil temperature warms to 65 ℉. Likes average garden soil and full sun. In very cold areas may require some mulch to overwinter well. Grows to about 2 ft tall.
