. A hardy, easy-to-grow Porcelain hard neck that adapts well to local conditions and loves growing in cold climates. Large bulbs (3-inches), wrapped in a tight, easy-to-peel white skin, with 5-6 fat, dense cloves inside. Rich, pungent, garlicky flavor that’s not too hot. Stores well. High medicinal allicin content. Originally from Italy/Yugoslavia area and grown for many years in Canada by Al Music.
Price is Per Pound. Our garlic ships in September.
Keep cloves in cool, dry location until ready to plant.
Plant in fall before ground freezes (by mid-Oct in zone 4).
Sow cloves in rows that are 8 inches apart, spacing garlic cloves 6 inches apart in the row. Plant 2-3 inches deep, and mulch well (at least 2-4 inches).
Trim the garlic scape curls that form in late spring/early summer for a tasty garlic-flavored green and promote larger bulb formation.
