Lovely, deep blue annual, native to Southern Europe, does well in our climate. Fern-like lacy leaves and 1.5 to 2ft. tall spikes covered in deep blue flowers adored by hummingbirds and butterflies. Blooms late spring through summer. Fabulous fresh-cut or dried flower.
Seed as soon as soil can be worked in spring or start indoors 6-8 weeks before transplanting. Slow germinator, soak seeds overnight to speed it up. Plant seeds 1/4-inch deep, cover well and keep soil cool. Transplant into rich, well-drained soil in sunny part of garden after last frost.
