This reliable, productive heirloom has been passed down since the 1880’s. It is the standard for pickles with good reason: bright green color; great crunch and flavor; good blocky shape. Fruit are best picked when 2-6”, so they fit well in jars. Mulch keeps the fruit clean & helps prevent rot from contact with moist soil. Plants like hot weather; not frost-hardy.
Direct seed this warm season crop outdoors when soil is warm and well past danger of frost (~70℉). Plant 1/2" deep, 2" apart, thin to 6-12" apart. Can be started indoors, provided roots are not disturbed during transplanting.
